It has been a busy week at PFS! We have been busy showing acts of kindness and celebrating kindness in our community. We have to opportunity to contribute to our school wide assembly celebrating 100 acts of kindness. We had pictures, videos and helped MC the event. We had lots of fun! We got to play a school wide game in the gym and we helped support our grade 1 buddies during the assembly.
We have also been busy in math this week. We started a STEMS project. Our project is "The Great Chain Race" we are connecting measurement, shapes, graphing and number senses to this project. We have created some different paper chains and will be comparing, measuring and graphing our work. We are also continuing to practice building our mental math skills by developing our multiplication and division skills. We can't wait to share our work at student led conferences in March! We just started our Magnetism and Electricity unit in science. We learned about magnetic fields, south and north poles on magnets and the Earth, as well as, proper and safe use of electricity. We will be continuing our work and also looking at circuits. As a class we are still talking about our amazing trip to the central library. We had a guided tour, got to check out their resources, and got to share in some story telling activities. We learned so much and thank our fabulous volunteers to joining us, we couldn't have done it with out you! Thank you! In art we have been looking at the work of Ted Harrison and connecting it to lines, shape and colour. We will be continuing our work and sharing our learning with our grade 1/2 buddies. We had a great week full of lots of learning. Thank you for taking time to read our class blog! Thanks, Grade 5's
